How son killed mother, hide her body for 10 years [Pix]

Dr. Chimezie Osigwe, 64, is a  retired school principal of Awa Community Secondary School, Ejemekwuru in Oguta local government area of Imo State. He not only allegedly killed his mother, he was said to have also dried her remains and stored them in a cupboard in a room that  allegedly served as his shrine!

The 78-year old mother, Mrs. Lucy Osigwe, reportedly went missing sometime in 2003, some 10 years ago! There was no clue whatsoever about her where-abouts.

Dr. Osigwe lived in a dilapidated house. He had no fleet of cars and estates. Some members of his Ejemekwuru community said he was a recluse. Nobody understood his ways. Everything surrounding him suggested abject poverty!

Two stories were told about how the remains of his allegedly missing mother were found. One of the stories had it that a  relation of the man was not particularly happy that Osigwe was reluctant to settle his indebtedness to him and decided to search his house to help himself with whatever he  could lay his hands on.
But instead of finding cash, the young boy allegedly stumbled on the old woman’s remains and  narrated the story to other relations who then  mobilized and stormed Osigwe’s shrine where the boy’s story was  allegedly confirmed.

The other story had it that some youths from feelers from the late woman’s maternal home, Amakohia, Awa, also in Oguta local council area, showed that they made the startling discovery.

A villager, who spoke to our agent, said that following the inexplicable disappearance of the old woman, some villagers decided to double check the  stories told by Osigwe.

“On getting to Ejemekwuru, our people demanded to know why the woman had remained missing for 10 years. the son told the villagers that his mother was mad at a point and ran away to an unknown place”, the villager recounted.

Not satisfied with the response, as well as the non-chalant attitude allegedly exhibited by the  son, the villagers, according to the villager, went berserk, destroying things in sight and ended up spotting the large cupboard containing the remains of their loved one.

“With this startling discovery, the villagers quickly lodged a complaint with the police who subsequently swung into action”, he
Confirming the discovery of the woman’s body, Imo State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Mohammed Katsina, said it was found in a large cupboard inside the shrine located in the suspect’s  private room.

“The missing woman’s lifeless body was found in a village called Ezuru Umuagwu, Ejemekwuru, Oguta local government area of Imo State”, the CP said.

“The corpse of the 78-year-old Mrs. Osigweh, declared missing in 2003, was found in a large cupboard inside the shrine in  a private room in a circumstance depicting ritual practice. “The embalmed body, which was kept in that condition for about 10 years, was  alleged  to have been placed in the warehouse by her son, Chief Dr. Chimezie Osigweh, a 64-year old retired school principal”.

The Imo police boss alleged that the suspect was a member of a sect, adding that “preliminary assessment of the scene of crime revealed that the late woman  could  have been murdered for ritual purpose”.

Katsina also alleged that members of a sect used to hold secret nocturnal meetings in the place to enhance their occultic powers.

“The principal suspect, Chief Dr. Chimezie Osigwe, who is the son of the woman, has been arrested and is making useful statement to the police”, the CP said.

The suspect  refused to disclose why he treated his mother disrespectfully for ten years. He rather pleaded that he should not be forced to say anything for fear of being attacked by his  enemies.

“Do you know that I have escaped three assassination attempts? Please, I will not say anything because my enemies are all over the place so that they will not use it to attack me”, Osigwe told journalists.

Irked by the adverse image created by criminal stories from Imo State in recent times, royal fathers from the state rose from an emergency meeting in Owerri, condemning the factory baby saga and Osigwe for allegedly killing his mother for ritual purposes.

The traditional fathers also ordered the banishing of the alleged perpetrators from their ancestral homes. Rolling out the decisions of the royal fathers at the secretariat of the State Council of Traditional Rulers, the Chairman, Eze Sam Agunwa Ohiri, explained that they took the decision in view of the shame the two incidents  brought to the state and its people.

State of Emergency: Nigerians in Diaspora Urges FG to Continue with Amnesty Move

Collins Nweke, Chairman of Nigerians in Diaspora (Europe) on Thursday urged the Federal Government to continue with its amnesty initiative for the Boko Haram insurgents in the search for a peaceful resolution of the security challenges facing the country.
Nweke who spoke against the backdrop of the State of Emergency declared in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states, said that the security challenges in the country would require a multi-track approach to resolve.
He said: ``A multi-track approach which includes the continuation of the amnesty talks, repressive military action and the State of Emergency must be employed’’
``The security challenges will not be addressed in a day; it did not start in one year, so the move government has made is a step in the right direction.’’
``The declaration of the State of Emergency was in line with constitutional provisions; What President Goodluck Jonathan has done is what the constitution empowers him to do.
``Jonathan is a democratically elected president whose duty is to uphold the territorial integrity of the nation.’’
He urged critics to play down on sensationalism saying: ``we should not play politics with security; we are talking about lives, and the sovereignty of Nigeria.’’

Sultan, CAN sue for peace

The Sultan of Sokoto, Saad Abubakar, on Thursday appealed to Nigerians to embrace peace no matter their religions and tribes.
He noted that it was in God’s wisdom that He instituted different tribes and religions therefore mankind and specifically Nigerians must tolerate one another for peaceful co-existence.
He said the crisis and disaffections in the world today is not the making of God, adding that “it is product of man inhumanity to man.”
While preaching the message of peace in Abuja, through his representative, the Andoma of Doma at the National Consultative Meeting on “the role of religious leaders and traditional rulers in building a culture of peace, national unity and integration”, he cautioned the citizenry not to hurt their compatriots.
He said since the consequences of religious crisis has not yielded more than destruction, Nigerians should return to the basis that God created mankind equal but man created the colour bar that now bedevils the society.
According to him, the only quality that exalts a man is his goodness and not religion or tribe.
He said, “what makes you different before God or what makes you acceptable to God, what endears you to God, is the much of your goodness that has benefited the other person, whether he is of your religion, your colour, your tribe or not.”
The cleric and traditional ruler appealed to all religious leaders in the country to aggressively preach the sermon of peace and harmony to their congregations.
The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), President, Ayo Oritseyjafor, agreed with the Sultan’s message of peace, adding that “that any group that desires peace is definitely doing the right thing.”
For Nigeria to attain a desirable rebirth, the CAN president said the citizenry must do all that is possible to re-establish peace in the country.
His words: “But let me quickly say that if we must build a new Nigeria, if we must build a great Nigeria, then we must all of us do everything it takes to bring peace.”
Meanwhile, the former chairman, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Malam Nuhu Ribadu, also appealed to both political and religious leaders to stop fueling crisis in Nigeria.
“I want to appeal to our own leaders, especially politicians, you have a role to play. Please don’t be putting more fire on this already tense situation,” he said.
He described the unrest as a global phenomenon, a challenge, which he urged the leaders to tackle head on.

Emergency rule reflects Nigeria’s worsening insecurity – U.S

A state of emergency declared in parts of Nigeria reflects a cycle of violence that’s growing more severe, a U.S. State Department official said.
President Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday declared a state of emergency in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa States to curb the orgy of violence in the areas.
Jonathan, in his address said “Islamic militants had taken over parts of Borno and militant action in the Muslim north amounted to a declaration of war.”
State Department spokesman, Patrick Ventrell, said the United States government was deeply concerned about violence in northern Nigeria, saying its severity was such that it may spill across the borders.
“The declaration of states of emergency in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa States reflects the worsening cycle of violence in northern Nigeria,” he said.
Militants suspected to be from the Boko Haram sect killed more than 40 people in attacks on a village in northern Nigeria last week.
The United Nations estimates that about 200 people were killed and more than 2,000 houses were destroyed in a recent Nigerian military raid in the north. The raids were allegedly in response to an attack by Boko Haram.
“We have made clear to the Nigerian government that its heavy-handed response to insecurity in northern Nigeria and the failure to address human rights violations will potentially affect our ability to provide security assistance going forward,” Ventrell said.

Wife Of Popular Soccer Star, Yusuf Ayila Caught With Fetish Charms

Contrary to reports in the media that Super Eagles star and Orduspor midfielder, Yusuf Ayila, abandoned his wife and kids in Ukraine and eloped with a girlfriend, latest information reaching us has it that there may be more to it.

We were actually able to get Graphic1Ayila’s reaction through his media rep during the week and his revelation was rather shocking as the Graphic3footballer accused his wife, Gbemisola of allegedly wanting to kill him and inherit his properties.

Hear what he told us: ‘Firstly, I’ll like to state categorically that Gbemisola is not my legal wife as widely reported. She is the mother of my two kids. We met years back and started a casual date.

The trouble started when I asked her to bring my children for holiday in Ukraine. One day, while I lived with her, I opened Gbemi’s wardrobe in Ukraine and found different charms, including a snake inside a bottle filled with gin.

It was a confirmation of the feelers I got from family and friends that she is fetish and had been using charms on me. I felt uncomfortable living under the same roof with her. In view of this development,

I told her to return to Nigeria, to which she refused. At that point, I told her I can’t cope with her bad habit anymore; that she had to go back to Nigeria or I’ll leave the house for her.

Meanwhile, before seeing the charms in her wardrobe, she’s always been at loggerheads with my mother for no concrete reason. I had to leave the house in Ukraine to get another apartment when she refused to leave.

Yet it never stopped me from paying the house rent, even after my departure to Orduspor, Turkey, my club. I kept paying the children’s school fees and other bills and later discovered that her Visa will expire in a few months’ time.

I sent her a mail asking her to leave Ukraine and go back to Nigeria since she hadn’t anything concrete doing and yet again she refused. I sent her another mail threatening to stop paying the rent in Ukraine by the end of April.

When she refused to leave, I sent someone to collect her passport lest she tarnishes my image and career.

I started hearing some unimaginable stories of her escapades with men each time I visited Nigeria, but I kept my cool. She was also reported to be having an affair with a popular Fuji star who also denied the allegation.

She had on several occasions connived with some people to kill me, which I survived by the grace of God. For the records,

I have a recorded phone conversation of that’. According to Ayila, he gives Gbemisola 1 Million Naira as monthly allowance. As for the said mistress, Ayila defended that he’s now legally married to her.

He described the new woman as a very responsible, God fearing lady who is his wife and not a mistress, as claimed by his estranged wife.
